It’s all in the shoes 👟

Those Shoes

I really love finding images when multiple elements start to line up. I was these brides’ maids standing in the parking lot after the wedding and I notice the shoes, the hands and the dresses. It was a question whether they would line up in an interesting graphic way. The images below is what I selected as my final.

Just for fun I thought Id show the other images I was selecting from. I like the image below but the lines on the ground distract from the shot.

I like the idea of the bride being in the shot but the grouping hasn’t come together. One of the things I really like about using a small camera or phone is that you can see a shot developing and move, wait, move some more, take a couple of shots and see what comes together. Its almost like you foresee the shot and your waiting for that image in the mind to become real. the reality is that you cant get too attached to what you see because… you can really see the future. You have to be open for what develops in front of you and sometime your lucky and you get the shot… many times it dissolves before your eyes and it flies away.

I love the quote below from Aaron Siskind, it describes my ultimate feeling I strive for when shooting. Its a little like a meditative state and can be hard to get to, but worth the effort. I saw it next to one of his photographs at the AIC.
