The weather has gotten nice enough, or at least it was a nice enough day today to take a drive. That usually means my Leica, a couple of lenses, the scanner (to track trains), and snacks. When I go on these trips I usually pick a direction. Today I was southwest. I got to Joliet then I decided to head south past the old munitions plant, now Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie, to Wilmington. Then back roads to Braidwood, Diamond, and Coal City. Following the BNSF line, I zig-zagged through Mazon, Verona, Kinsman, and Ransom. From there I turned north and did more back roads to Marseilles. At that point, it was 4:30, and I had an hour before sunset. Time to turn east and start heading back. I followed the I&M canal most of the way till I got close to Morris. At that point the sun was gone and time to get back. Nice day out.
