End Of Summer Light

I can’t believe that the summer is now, for sure, over…  how quickly it passed.  One last memory.

I love the light of the late summer sunset.  Reminds me of the coloring in the Hudson River School paintings.  A blasted tree would complete the comparison but I don’t think the school would appreciate my adjustment to their grounds.

Old habits die hard… three former campers sitting at “attention” during “pass in review”.  Then it’s off for ice cream in Valpo.  It’s fun to see how they get along.

I stand still or move slowly, feeling things like the impulse of shapes, the direction of lines, the quality of surfaces. I frame with my eye (sometimes with my hands) as the ground glass would frame. Nothing that one could reasonably call thinking is taking place at this stage. The condition is total absorption; the decision (a picture!) is spontaneous. – Aaron Siskind, 1955
