This carving is from Nederluleå, a medieval church in Gammelstaden. The church was dedicated in 1492. And I read that there was a wooden church on the site before the current fieldstone building. That goes back a bit further than I’m used to in the midwest.

I stand still or move slowly, feeling things like the impulse of shapes, the direction of lines, the quality of surfaces.
