More Egg

Yes, more egg. Just like “more cowbell”.

I’m finding much humor in the conversation of late about the camera NASA gave the astronauts to use on Artemis. I was going to be salty about the conversation over NASA’s choice of a seven-year-old camera. I see nothing wrong in the choice. It probably points more to how the camera geekery out there wants the newest, hottest choice, or maybe they wanted the camera they own to be chosen. On such an important mission, where the astronauts have a boatload of other responsibilities, choosing something that is tried and tested seems like a smart choice. Besides, Canon doesn’t have a CPS outpost on the moon yet.

I also love the image of the Earth that they sent back. It turns out that the image was a backlit shot of the Earth, an image of the dark side of the Earth with the sun on the opposite side. Once you know this, it makes sense why the image is different from the Apollo image of the Earth it’s being compared to.

Oh well, till tomorrow. I have a backlog of posts I want to write on.
