Nuts!

The best part of fall is the colors, smells and sounds… accept the sound that comes from parking your car under an oak tree dropping acorns. That repeated tinny thwack sound is very distressing.

A close up black and white image of my hand hold fallen oak leaves and 3 acorns, photoghed using antique vintage manual focus Nikor 50mm 1.2 lens

I photographed this image using my Canon R5 with a manual focus Nikkor 50mm f1.2 AIS lens shot at 1.2.  I bought this lens new back in the early 90s to go with the Nikon F3 HP that I used to use for my work.  Its definitely one of the things I love about these new mirrorless cameras, the ability to attached vintage lenses and see the focus.  I’ve been playing with this lens and a couple of Leica lenses, the oldest of which is the Leitz Summitar 5cm f2.5

A few more from the day’s shoot.

I stand still or move slowly, feeling things like the impulse of shapes, the direction of lines, the quality of surfaces. I frame with my eye (sometimes with my hands) as the ground glass would frame. Nothing that one could reasonably call thinking is taking place at this stage. The condition is total absorption; the decision (a picture!) is spontaneous. – Aaron Siskind, 1955
