Surprises
And I thought I had it all figured out. I think I’m going to go back to shooting film. I have always kept my toe in it; I still have my darkroom, processing tanks, and enlarger. I think I might make more of an effort to shoot two or three rolls a month and see… Continue reading

Syncronize your watches.
What happened to then? We passed then. When? Just now. We’re at now now. This image is from a visit Ryan and I had to Dayton this last summer to visit with my high school roommate. Ryan is studying mechanical engineering in college and has expressed interest in flying and possibly joining the Air Force. … Continue reading

Nuts!
The best part of fall is the colors, smells and sounds… accept the sound that comes from parking your car under an oak tree dropping acorns. That repeated tinny thwack sound is very distressing. I photographed this image using my Canon R5 with a manual focus Nikkor 50mm f1.2 AIS lens shot at 1.2. I… Continue reading

Those Shoes I really love finding images when multiple elements start to line up. I was these brides’ maids standing in the parking lot after the wedding and I notice the shoes, the hands and the dresses. It was a question whether they would line up in an interesting graphic way. The images below is… Continue reading

It’s been a busy week. So many birthdays 🎉
I love the way my kids have made their own relationships with each other. It fun watching how each of them, with their own special personalities, relate to each other. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that the three are all have group conversations without me or their mother. And to be frank I don’t… Continue reading

Reflective
Patrick Image from a recent senior session I know this may be techie… but. The new lens I got when I sold off my medium format gear has been so much fun in studio. I can shift between strobe shooting and available light with one lens, f5.6 to f2 in without swapping lenses or cameras. … Continue reading

I stand still or move slowly, feeling things like the impulse of shapes, the direction of lines, the quality of surfaces. I frame with my eye (sometimes with my hands) as the ground glass would frame. Nothing that one could reasonably call thinking is taking place at this stage. The condition is total absorption; the decision (a picture!) is spontaneous. – Aaron Siskind, 1955
