A few for from the farm.

Saturday was a beautiful early spring day with great sun.  After chasing trains for most of the morning, including some UP freight in Glennwood and an Iowa Interstate freight in Blue Island.  I ended up at the Stellwagen Farm in the south part of Orland Park.  The farm is part of the Orland Open Lands Project and is open to wander on.  A couple of times a year they have an open house where the buildings are opened up to walk through and the, in the past, the children of the last farmer are there to talk about the farm and their experiences on the farm.  Ry and I did this about a year ago and was a wonderful experience.  I highly recommend keeping your eye out for the next open house.

I really love this time of year.  The low angle of the sun and the coloring of the light (when we see the sun) make for some fun photo opportunities.

I stand still or move slowly, feeling things like the impulse of shapes, the direction of lines, the quality of surfaces. I frame with my eye (sometimes with my hands) as the ground glass would frame. Nothing that one could reasonably call thinking is taking place at this stage. The condition is total absorption; the decision (a picture!) is spontaneous. – Aaron Siskind, 1955
