Elise and I walked the halls of Carl Sandberg HS last night for our middle daughter’s first semester as a freshman. My takeaways…. I sure hope she has a good pair of shoes for getting through that monstrous place and school lockers haven’t changed much. Got me thinking… with all the changes we’ve seen in the last 20 year to work and life, I can be certain of the value of a good pair of shoes… I’m not so certain about the locker. With Chromebooks for all and submitting homework in the cloud, the locker with its manual combination feels too slow. Do we need a place to store stuff when we’re trying to teach the young to be nimble?

Although, one principal did say that a few years ago they had a new student’s little brother locked inside one. I know a couple of sisters that would find that quite valuable.
