Today is one of those days I would love to be at the beach…. Feet in the sand, warm sun, cool lake breeze… Digging into my archives for this. Beach grass and fence from Michigan City, IN. taken back in the film days 1999 or so. I can date it becuase I know of a shot taken at the same time of Courtney’s first visit to the beach, she was 1. Everytime a wave came in she hold on to me and pick her feet up. I can also date it because it was take with one of my all time favorite cameras, Leica R8 and 35mm Summicron, I had some sweet glass for that camera!

I stand still or move slowly, feeling things like the impulse of shapes, the direction of lines, the quality of surfaces. I frame with my eye (sometimes with my hands) as the ground glass would frame. Nothing that one could reasonably call thinking is taking place at this stage. The condition is total absorption; the decision (a picture!) is spontaneous. – Aaron Siskind, 1955
